Long-term reliability: Samsung SM-348B

Postby bto on Sat Jan 11, 2003 11:49 pm

HI, I am new to the forum, but long time reader of CDRLabs, base all my CDRW purchases on their reviews.

This will be the first venture into the Combo drive arena for me, and I have heard of reliability issues related to these drives. I am considering purchasing a Samsung SM-348B. It will be used as an everyday drive, for everything; not a lot of burning involved, but still occasional.

Will this drive remain reliable for say, over a year?. Or should I buy just a normal CDRW and then a separate DVD?.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Sure it will be reliable for a over a year! The warranty on the drive is at least one year, so if the drive craps out within that time, just get a new one. Samsung drives are well built and perform well, just read the Reviews section to learn more about the SM-348B. It scored a 9 out of 10.

Thanks, Appreciate the help.

I decided that I will take the plunge, and go out to buy it. The warranty secures my purchase. :)

BTW, I did read the CDRLabs review before, and liked the overall performance of the drive.

Again, Thanks.
