I have the Yamaha CRW-F1E and I need to want to update the firmware.
How do I do this? can you all go through the steps with me

It's pretty easy.

1. Download the firmware update to your hard drive. You can download it here:

2. Run the exe to extract files to hard drive.

3. Read the readme.txt to see if there is anything special you need to do before updating.

4. Run WinInst.exe and reboot.

1.0f is the newest one?...
what does it do that 1.0d can't do?

Read the "Changes from the Previous Version" on the site Ian gave you.
It'll have the info.
If they're like Lite-On, it's mostly just better media compatibility.
