User opinions on Teac CD-W512S, anyone...?

Postby articulate on Wed Jan 22, 2003 7:23 pm

I think I know the answer to this, but has the Teac CD-W512S been a good performer in anyone's experience? And does it have Burnproof? Everyone seems to consider the 58S to be so good... I have a 512EB myself, which is great -- any opinions on the 512S?

The CD-W512S? It's been years since I even thought about that drive. To be honest, I don't know.

However, I do know that it supports BURN-Proof. At least according to the BURN-Proof authorization list.

Thx!

Now the trick question....

Was there a CD-W512S w/o Burnproof, while the CD-W512SB had it?
I know there was a 512E (w/o) and also a 512EB (with Burnproof) at the time.

The reason I'm asking -- someone wants to sell a tower w/ 8 of these machines (512S) possibly very cheaply and I figured it would make a good CD-copying station for small-scale company mass-copying jobs.

There wasn't CD-W512S without BURN-Proof. Every single drive has it.

You have to be aware though that not all duplication controllers enable the burnproof.

The 512S is just as good as the 512EB, as they are both based on exactly the same design (only the bus controller is different). Very solid, immaculately built and very media friendly. The ideal drives for duplicators TBH.
