Questions re: CRX 220 6YS1 *GENUINE* firmware

Hello

=> firstly, are we %101 certain that the 6YS1 firware on this page here:-

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mcmntl/firmware.htm

**IS** the genuine/original/unchanged SONY 220 firmware ?

=> secondly, [assuming it is] can you flash it into an E1 drive or is it only for A1 drives ?

=> lastly, [ again assuming it is genuine] has anyone flashed thier 210E1 to the 220E1 using this 6YS1 firware ? If so - any problems / glitchs / issues ?

TIA
Dave

I don't think that is the real FW Ian. It says Lite-On/Sony, which I think means that it has been hex-edited to show it as a Sony. It has all the features of a Lite-On drive, including Mt Rainier, which is NOT on the actual Sony firmware. I think Dave aka DHC014 has the actual Sony CRX220 FW, if you need it.
I suggest you stick to the original Lite-On 52246S fw 6S0a, which seems to be the best 52X firmware around.

edit: I think you can get the original Sony firmware here:

Well, version 6YS1 from the aforementioned site (http://kickme.to/sony210) is genuine Sony firmware for the CRX220E1. I actually got it from ^DA^ZoMBiE who maintains that site and we both have it available for download. The firmware that is a modified LTR-52246S firmware is version 6S0A, just like for the 52246S, I would recommend the modified Lite-ON firmware over the official firmware, 6YS1, because you get Mt. Rainier capabilities, and you don't have to deal with TurboBoost which lowers the drive's maximum burn speed to 40x unless you hold the eject button for 5 seconds. See my second post here for screenshots and testing of this firmware.
