New Firmware For TDK 48x24x48 (4800B)

Postby BuddhaTB on Tue Jan 28, 2003 4:31 am

I was just browsing through TDK's website and happened to come across a new firmware for the TDK VeloCD 48x24x48 Internal CD-RW Drive. The previous firmware was S7S5, while the newest version is S7S8. TDK claims this firmware upgrade will offer improved compatibility with a variety of recordable media.

You can look at it here

Also, since the TDK 52x firmware is on the TDK website, can I just flash my TDK 48x drive with it to write in 52x, or is there a more complicated procedure than that?

Wierd problem. I just updated the firmware on my TDK 48x to the S7S8. However, Nero only shows 48x, 8x, and 4x as the only selectable recording speeds I can choose. My Nero is the newest version at 5.5.10. Would there be anyway of fixing this problem?

I flashed my TDK VeloCD 4800B to version S7S8 last month (I posted the update then as well). :) I downloaded the firmware for my burner from TDK's Singapore site. :)

I haven't had any problems with Nero (or InfoTool) not showing all of the read/write speeds.

IIRC, I remember a thread where someone was having a similar problem in Nero. The solution was that over time, Nero (and Nero InfoTool) would show all of the correct speeds for reading and for writing. :)

About flashing your burner to 52X: I think that if you use FlashFix on the executable file for the 5200B then, perform the firmware upgrade (using the modified executable), you'll have a 5200B after that. :)
My solution to the Plextor vs. Lite-On debate: Buy 'em both! :)

Are you flippin serious Buddha? This firmware has been out for over a month! Have I taught you nothing?! Yes you can use flashfix on the TDK 67U4 updater to flash your drive, and all speeds will be listed after a few restarts...
