hi all, im new here, and in need of a little help...

i got this lite-on LTR-52246s about 2 and a half months ago, and have been looking for good media to use with it, and i think the reader in it has died, i test discs it burne in nero (696 mb file) burnt at 52 48 40 and 32 speed, and it seems thel all have c2 errors, i test them in my other cd drives my sony crx175m and that usually reads 600 c2 errors on every disc that the lite-on has burnt, and read 0 c2 errors in the creative PC-DVD 16x, and 0 c2 in my asus cd-s500/a

if i burn with cd speed "create data cd" it burns a cd that the lite on reads with 0 errors, sony with 600 and pc-dvd and asus with 0

im not sure if its to do with the burn settings or what, caus in nero i set it to burn with dao/96 and cdspeed i guess wouldnt burn with that

i currently am using datastream professional, there 48x rated and show up as prodisc in nero cd speed and CD doctor

it seems to me the lite-on doesnt like reading subchannel

and the files are zip file segments, 3.11 gb zip file split into 700 mb parts, for a backup before a formatt

oh oh, and forgot to add, that im using firmware v6S0C on my liteon

Try using some Fuji's made in Japan.

a screen shot from CD Doctor:

Note 0 C2 errors, and very little C1 errors and that was @ 52x (48x rated disc). That's on my LTR-52246S with 6S0C.

I'm guessing that the problems are with the discs, not your drive. Change your brand of disc and see if the same problem occurrs.

The Fuji's are more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Oh, and welcome to CD-R Labs !
