CD Burner / CD-Rom Drive Top 10 List

Postby justjer on Wed Mar 05, 2003 5:33 pm

While wandering around the net a week ago I came across a site that had sort of a Top 10 list for CD Drives based on C1 error rates and possibly for Digital Audio Extraction. I believe Lite-On had 5 drives on the list but wasn't the top performer. I believe a TDK drive was the top drive, but I could be mistaken.

Anyone know what I'm talking about? I've been searching google for two days looking for that page and am having no luck.

Nope. Some other site... the drives scored by lowest C1 error correction rate or something like that.

Can't you use your "History" button and make a reasonable guess at it and then click until you find the right one? Surely it is in there somewhere. I would like to see this site.

I tried... on two computers and I even tried to search my cache. I've done all kinds of seaches on google and can't find it. I'm thinking it may not have been indexed. I'm going to be purchasing some new CD Drives and want that info. It seemed like the only place I've seen where they rate the drives based on C1 error rate performance.

Well, that is probably not a very large list because not all drives do C1 checking, right? Pretty much limited to MediaTek chipsets so some LG and Lite-ON and maybe BTC drives can do it, no?

Not necessarily. It may be that the C1 error test was a test of discs burned on the various drives but read on a single C1 capable drive or dedicated test equipment.

If you find it, justjer, please post a link here.
