Is Plextor 48x24x48 probably the most media-compatible CDRW?

Is Plextor 48x24x48 probably the most media-compatible CDRW?

And if not, is it or is it not the best CD-burner to handle low quality CDdr-ws suchs as Ritek, CMC, Infodisc etc..?

Thanks a lot.

If you want a drive that will write at 48x to more media, including stuff like CMC, Ritek, etc the Lite-On drives are better.

If you want a drive that will deliver good writing quality no matter what media you're using, then the Plex is a good choice. Of course, you're not going to be able to write to all media at 48x.

Wouldn't be able to do that with the Lite-on for sure as well, would I?

Ian you have summed up the situation brilliantly. If you could flesh this thread out with a few more of the better known burners vs. the common disks out there in general you would be my hero.

And Plextor could write the CMC, Ritek etx as well as the Lite-on or even better, don't you think?
It is a Plextor, after all.

Not necessarily. Media compatibility is a funny thing -- sometimes a particular drive will decide to hate a new release of a manufacturer's disc having liked it previously.

And the Plex is NOT the be-all and end-all. It's as capable of making coasters with the wrong discs for it (that work with other drives) as any other brand :(
