Help - slow reading multimedia CD

Postby mg on Sun Mar 09, 2003 10:35 am

When I copy multimedia CDs, reading speed is always slow (8x) with my Pacific Digital 52x24x52. But reading Data CD is much faster. I tried different softwares, and set up drive speed in Nero DriveSpeed. I use W2K. Did I do something wrong with set up or properties? Help !!!

I'm not sure who made your Pacific Digital drive, so I can't say for sure, but it isn't uncommon for drives to read mode 2 multi-media discs more slowly than mode 1/mode 2 form 1 ISO 9660 data discs.

Pacific Digital 52x24x52 is made by Top-G. For some reason, Plex and Lite-On reads multimedia CD faster. Don't know how to fix the problem.

I think you've already solved the problem.. use a different drive when reading these types of discs.
