Multiple Lite-on?

Postby TraceElliot on Sun Mar 09, 2003 9:14 am

Hi all,

I am looking to buy a set of drives specifically for duplicating audio discs and here in the uk can get Lite-ons for a good price. The drives (7 of) will be placed in a stand alone case using a Wytron cd-298 controller and 52x Lite-on cdrom as reader.

1) Are there any drawbacks for these drives if used for this application?

2) Are they reliable?

3) Are there any other drives that would be better?

4) Whats Lite-on support like?

Also I have been trying to get a Yamaha CRW-F1 to make audio master disks, these were freely available last week but overnight disappeared off the face of the earth, no-one in the UK has them in stock any more.

Does anybody know why this is?

Any help is well appreciated.

Cheers, Trace.

No knowledge in stand alone cdrw system. But Liteon is good. Good performance at a lower price. The only thing that I don't like Liteon's product because it has a very bad support. In other words, Liteon doesn't has any support. You must go back to the dealer or the distributor. I gone thru this hassle once. Anyway you can get the support here :D .

Yamaha already discontinued their cdrw drive production. So I think it is hard to find now. Did you try to connect the Yamaha's distributor at your place? Maybe you got luck there. Last week I also gone thru a hard time to find for that drive here in Malaysia. But luckily I knew where the distributor located and I got the drive. Good luck to you

I recommend ASUS because they make a quality product and have good support.

Hi Ippnet,

Thanks for the info I now have an F1 on the way.

Burninfool,

Asus are not as freely available here, is there really that much difference?

Cheers, Trace.
