most people around here believe Verbatim is not quite as good as Taiyo Yuden, because burn quality of TY is (usually) better - lower C1 error rate (not a very big difference though).
Kodak has better long-term life, at least according to accelerated aging tests. at least according to Kodak. has to do with using real Gold in the reflective layer.
Mitsui media is also excellent. according to some - the best. supposedly it is the best media for long term storage.
that being said, Verbatim media made by Mitsubishi Chemichals is definitely very good media. among the very best there is.
