Burning 800 MB Data ?

Postby eBast on Thu Mar 27, 2003 3:24 am

i am using the latest update of Nero and am only able to burn 800 mb data with the overburn option activated. Or else the message - disk has insuffcient space - pops up. How to change the default options so that i can burn cds with out the overburn option turned on ? like to do a multi session burn ? :-?

thanks in advance

I'm not sure what you are asking. You can't overburn unless you enable overburning. And you don't need to enable overburning if you don't want to overburn. Also, overburning must be done in DAO mode. What exactly are you trying to do, what size discs are you using, and what is your drive?

You can set the overburn limit, in minutes, in one of the Nero option screens. Standard 80 minute CD will hold 700MB of data, so 800MB is roughly 91.4 minutes. So unless you have one of those special (expensive) 90 or 100 minute CDRs, you're not going to be able to get 800MB of readable data on to a standard CDR.

i have a sony 215e 48x24x48 drive. and i am trying Amakette 90mts 800 mb cds. i have successfully burned 800 mb data with overburn option turned on and using the 'dist-at-once' option.

but i need to use the same type disk in 'multisession' during which the overburn option is not available.

what i need to know is whether there is any option in Nero where the default cd length of 80 mts can be changed to 90 mts so I can burn 800 mb data without turning on the over burn option.... and also use multisession mode,

thanks

Sorry, but you must use DAO when overburning, and that means anything over 80 minutes.

Easy CD Creator doesn't even allow overburning, so it is impossible to burn more than an 80 minute CD with EZCD Creator. Nero is as good a choice as any for overburning.

90 minute CD's will always have to be burned by overburning and will never be a default in any burning software. This is because a 90 minute CD is outside of the specifications for CD's, which allow an extreme limit of 80 minutes.

The extra time allowed by 90 minute CD's is gained by violating and reducing the manufacturing standards for reliability. As such, 90 minute CD's are inherently of a lower quality than discs that follow the standards (74 and 80 minute CD's). If you are lucky, they may record now, but are much more likely to have near term failures and/or inability to play in all devices.
