Memorex: 74 Minutes.
Gold tops with light Green bottom. Rated at 12X. I bought a spindle of 100.

ATIP: 97m 26s 66f
Disc Manufacturer: CMC Magnetics Corp.
Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 658.89MB (75m 00s 00f / LBA: 337350)

I know, they're from CMC Magnetics. The 2nd worst maker on the planet.
Ritek is THE worst. I've NEVER had a bad disc. Excellent for audio or data.

Silver Generic Blanks 80 Minutes (700mb)
Rated at 12X, but excellent at 16X. I even write on them with a cd marker, no prolems at all. Generic unbranded tops with a very light blue bottom.

ATIP: 97m 28s 60f
Disc Manufacturer: Friendly CD-Tek Co.
Reflective layer: Dye (Long strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

These were a wonderful surprise!

These are my everday blanks. I back up the Hard Drives, make audio cd's & data cd's.
Cheap & excellent. Again, not 1 bad disc in the 2 spindles of 100 that I bought at http://www.auction4it.com in Canada. Downside: they do not like the Canadian winter. DO NOT leave them in the car overnight after December 1st.

Veratim 74 Minute CD-RW 10X RW (High Speed).
I bought a 5 pack of them.
An excellent CD-RW disc.

ATIP: 97m 34s 23f
Disc Manufacturer: Mitsubishi Chemicals Corp.
Reflective layer: Phase change
Media type: CD-ReWritable
Recording Speeds: min. 4X - max. 8X
nominal Capacity: 656.40MB (74m 43s 00f / LBA: 336075)

If you need a CD-RW disc, get them!
They're my frequently changing windows back up disc. Any program I use has a back up on one of these. It makes reinstalling them easier after you format again and again and again...

Taiyo Yuden spindles purchased from Tape Warehouse..
(Broadcast/mass media distributor located here in Atlanta)

ATIP: 97m 24s 01f
Disc Manufacturer: Taiyo Yuden Company Ltd.
Reflective layer: Dye (Long strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 72f / LBA: 359847)

Teac CD-W540E, no coasters, no read problems, no playback problems!

(Everything I own that plays CDs will play them flawlessly, even written at 40X!)

They were out of TY AND Mitsui this time around, so I ended up with TDK CMC phthalocyanine discs. So far, so good.. but I'm not a big fan of CMC.. We'll see.

I also bought that 5-pack. I got it from Buy.com with free shipping, for about $5.96. These are also my favorite CD-RW discs, until I find Ultra Speed CD-RW discs with error rates as low as these discs. I also like the thick jewel cases--the thin jewel cases sold with many newer CD-Rs/RWs are just annoying. I know some people like them, but I don't. Spazmogen, where were your Verbatim 10X High Speed CD-RW discs made? Mine were made in Ireland.

Heh, I kinda brought it back to life. New to this board, so I've been reading and responding to some old threads.

No problem.

Since I posted this thread (way back last fall sometime) TheWizard has a HUGE thread on media compatability with various makes of drives.

It's a sticky thread, and can be found here: http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=6005

So this thread is moot now.
