Nero help files "not found."

Postby lalittle on Fri Apr 18, 2003 5:21 pm

Whenever I try to access the help system in Nero, I get a message saying: "The help file cannot be opened: The system cannot find the file specified."

I updated to the latest version and tried uninstalling/reinstalling, but the problem persists.

How do I get Nero's help system working?

Thanks,

Larry

the Nero update downloadable from Ahead's website does not include the help files.
you need to download them separately.

go to the download site http://www.ahead.de/en/index.html#download , make sure Nero Burning ROM is in the drop-down menu, and in the second drop-down menu underneath it select Language pack. then click on the language of your choice.

download the file and execute it, it unzips and installs the helpfiles.

Thanks -- that would seem to be the ticket. It appears that this file needs to be updated along with the program itself, so I'd have to update this again every time I update Nero. Is it okay to just install the new "language pack" over the old installation (like you do with the program updates)?

Thanks,

that's right.
although i must admit, i believe the differences in the help files are so minor it isn't worth downloading them every time.

i think i once experimented with 3 consecutive versions of the helpfiles (maybe 5.5.9.9/5.5.9.14/5.5.9.17 maybe?) and these 5+MB files differed only at some 12 bytes!!!

Thanks -- the help files work now (finally.) I never even thought to look under "language pack."
