Changing from EasyCD to Nero.

Postby lalittle on Fri Apr 18, 2003 5:28 pm

I remember seeing some posts a while back talking about potential problems when changing from EasyCD creator to Nero on a system. The problems concerned the fact that an uninstall of EasyCD still left some changes to the system that could interfere with Nero. Is this still the case?

I have an old version of EasyCD Creator (version 4 I believe) on one of my systems that I'd like to replace with Nero, but I'm not sure what precautions I need to take. I found some info on the Nero site, but I'm still unclear about the specific procedure.

Thanks for any info (or links to specific info) on this,

You can just uninstall Easy CD Creator 4 if you don't want to use it anymore and then install Nero. No special precautions are necessary, and a change doesn't cause problems. If you want to be extra cautious about removing all traces of Easy CD Creator, you can follow the instructions at The correct method of uninstalling and reinstalling Easy CD Creator 4.X and stop at step 8. :)

You can also leave Easy CD Creator 4 installed and install Nero. They should work together without any problems as long as you install only one packet writing program, either DirectCD or InCD (but not both).

Reports of incompatibilities can usually be traced to the installation of more than one packet writing program.

Thanks -- I was under the impression that even after EasyCD creator was removed, it could still cause problems for Nero. I'll go ahead and just uninstall it normally.

There should be no problem running ECDC and Nero at the same time, and un-installing ECDC and then installing Nero should be fine.

No problems going forward.

Yes,LiteOnGuy is correct.Nero and EZCD should co-exist with each other and you can use both of them if you want.So there is actually no need to uninstall one program if you want to use other.
Inertia is also right about packet writing software. If you install both together you will definitely face problems at one step or other. So install only one of them,InCD or DirectCD.
See ya guys later...
