well.

i guess progress and technology eventually reach an old coot (as cfitz would say) like me, who lives in the hinterlands of modern society... :o

just made my first online purchase :D :D :D

if anyone's curious: a Support license for CDCheck.

first, thanks! :D
second, hey it's free! it's not like i have to pay the license fee.
but since i use it a lot, and also beta test a lot and correspond with the author a lot, i thought i might as well...
third, it wasn't me in particular...you mentioned a general, inlusive "us old coots..." once. and hey, what can i do, it applies to me too, at least by CDRLabs standards.
for example, if i were one of the old-timers around here who joined in 1970, i still couldn't say i started posting before i was born :o

Okay, fair enough. Now that you mention it I do seem to recall something like that. Didn't aviationwiz get me started by telling me something like "you must be old" or something? I can't remember... I'm too much of an old coot!

By the way, I meant what took you so long to make your first online purchase in general, not what took you so long to purchase a CDCheck support license in particular. But, since you are an enthusiastic supporter of CDCheck, I guess I could have asked the same question about that.

Just this weekend, Friday, and Saturday. I have made 4 online orders. I plan on making another order tomorrow.

1. Audio Book (audible.com)
2. Pictures from airliners.net (trying out thier new service)
3. Pre-Order Book from Amazon
4. Anothe Pre-Order Book from Amazon

Later today, I plan on getting:
2 or 3 books that are in-stock at Amazon

This month I have made a total of 8 online orders, planning on that 9th.

It's about time.

My first online purchase was a Win98 update CD.

Congrats!!! :D

Online shopping has done wonders for me.
I've made a few large orders this weekend online too. I also plan to finally win a HP ink cartridge from eBay, if everything works out in my favor.

My apologies, aviationwiz. It wasn't you, but rather aznjosh who called me "ancient":

http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic. ... 3896#53896

And TheWizard didn't call me old, but while trying to be supportive posted a message that indirectly implied I am old:

http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic. ... 5882#45882

I guess I blurred these two threads together in my head, combined the starting "a" from aznjosh with the "wiz" in TheWizard, and came up with "aviationwiz". You'll have to forgive me because, as I said, old coots like me can't remember very well...

A slow-witted, simple-minded old fellow. Apparently it comes from a bird named "coot" that is known for being stupid and slow flying, which can't be good because birds already have a reputation for being stupid (e.g. "bird brain"). :o

interesting.
but i would'nt say birds are stupid. there are some very clever birds.
and definitely sayings such as "bird brain" are no proof of birds's stupidity!

surely, there are birds that are cleverer than some people

OK, this is a reply i got from CDCheck's author:

Thank you for purchasing the support license, but you needn't. I am
already more than happy with all your comments and beta testing.
