Asus 5224a firmware upgrade problem

Postby Rahul on Mon Apr 28, 2003 1:44 am

Hi
I recently purchased an Asus 5224a CDRW. I downloaded the new firmware off the Asus website (Version 1.35) and ran it. It gave me the error "The parameter is incorrect" two times and failed to load the new firmware on the drive. Has anyone else experienced the same problem? Anyone withe any help would be appreciated

Are you sure you are using correct command sequence?

Are you trying a Windows flash or a DOS flash?
I think it would be better to do a DOS flash using MTKFlash and the binary version of your drive's firmware.

Don't worry about the faulty search function. It's kinda screwy  . Ian has put up a sticky in the CDR/RW form, mentioning that the search function is down.

Better than MTKFlash is MTKWINFlash, which works in Windows, rather than in DOS like MTKFlash. Get it here:

Lemme try getting my hands on the binary version of the firmware. Gimme a couple of days for that.

Oh and btw, is your drive malfunctioning in some way, that you wanna update your firmware? If it's working fine, let it be!

Rahul - here you go, here's the A135 .bin firmware.

http://www.xs4all.nl/~sdgroot/Asus%20CR ... e/A135.BIN

If that link doesn't work, go here :

Go down to Maelstrom's post. He has posted a link with the A135 .bin firmware.
