Welcome to CDRLabs, Bob!

Did you uninstall ECDC 5 before installing version 6? If you didn't, please uninstall BOTH ECDC 5 and 6 and then re-install 6. Please post back and let us know if this helped!

Do you have DirectCD installed?

Also, you should uninstall the Adaptec or Roxio UDF reader software if it's installed.

robertstaab,

The error message is being caused due to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\UdfReadr_xp.sys file failing to load at system startup. This system file is necessary to read packet written discs with the UDF file system (i.e., DirectCD). Check to see if the file is present at the given path. You could also do a search in the registry for the file and see if the correct path is used.

I would try uninstalling and reinstalling DirectCD to see if that fixes the problem. If the file is missing for some reason and you can't get it to install, let me know and I will send it to you by email. It's only 201 kB.

robertstaab,

On second thought after rereading your original post, I would just ignore the message.

The date of this error message was 4/17/03, 18 days ago. If you are not experiencing any problems in running programs, I wouldn't be concerned about what is in the Event Viewer unless it pertains to a current problem.

Old error messages are just history and are not relevant if not related to a current problem. :)
