Samsung CD-RW+DVD SM-348B vs XP

Postby RV-Overide on Mon Mar 24, 2003 8:08 pm

Hey Guys,

I emailed Samsung regarding model SM-348B
48x24x48+16 CD-RW/DVD combo, since I could not
find the system requirements for this product on
thier web site, asking them if it will work with
Windsows XP Pro. Below are thier response.

Yes it will work with windows XP but see below:

Remove Easy CD Creator options for Direct CD only!!!!!

1.) Remove Direct CD from Windows XP, completely
2.) Run Disk Cleanup under accessories
3.) Restart computer
4.) XP "Copy" utility within Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer)
will operate properly again

The Reason being, the XP "Copy" Utility is a packet session burner,
hence you create an Image and then you commit to the burn, by confirmation.
Direct CD formats the Disc and then copies directly "direct session" to
the CD. Both of these applications are created by Roxio. You cannot have
two of the near same software by the same vendor on the same computer.

Thank You

Hope this will help

If you want to make Nero burning to go without any hindrance, probably it would help if XP native burning is disabled. This is something additional:

Control Panel > Admin Tools > Services >
And set "Manua" or "Disable" for this service:
IMAPI CD Burning COM Service.

Cheers.

Hmm.. is this applicable ONLY for Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum? Or would it be the same for EASY CD and DVD Creator v6?

I have the latter installed on Win XP Pro (SP1) without any problems.... Nero is OK, but hey, I still stick with Roxio which IMHO more stable...

Ta!
