In House Review - Lite-On LSC-24081MX 24/12/24/8 Combo Drive

Postby Ian on Fri May 09, 2003 9:51 am

Today, we bring you a review of Lite-On's new combination CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive, the LSC-24081MX. While small in size, this portable combo drive packs a punch. It reads and writes at 24x, rewrites at 12x, and can read DVD's at speeds up to 8x. Of course, the LSC-24081MX also has many of the features we've come to expect from Lite-On including their SMART-BURN and SMART-X technologies. In this review we take a look at some of the features found on Lite-On's new portable drive and then see how it performs. Is the LSC-24081MX the best choice for the user on the go? You'll have to check out the review to find out.

Again, great review, Ian! :D

Wow, for a portable drive, that drive sounds great! Maybe my laptop needs an upgrade...

LSC-24081MX seems to be an external version of LSC-24081(M), an internal slim combo drive for notebooks!

Great review overall. I have one pice of critisism. I am NOT starting flame or arguing, and dont expect anyone to react that way. But how can features be a 9 out of 10 when it is missing Mt. Rainer?

well, that's why i didn't get a 10 :)
anyway, the added benefit of Mt. Rainier is so negligible...

Exactly.

This feature will probably be added in a future firmware update. According to Lite-On's website Mt. Rainier support is "optional".
