LG CD-RW GCE-8240B

Postby joseph81o on Fri May 09, 2003 7:05 am

I'm using a CD-RW from LG, model GCE-8240B.
Has anybody here come across the following (annoying) problem?
I always have to insert a CD twice before the writer recognizes the disc and starts reading it.In other words, almost every CD I insert goes on spinning with the LED indicator flashing away, but the drive remains inaccessible.I have to open & close the tray a second time before the CD can be opened.
I'd like to find out if this is perhaps down to a fault with the CD-drive or some conflict within Windows.
Any hints would be much appreciated.Thanks.

Dear joseph81o,
I have the same drive. But I dont have the problem that you said.Try booting using a bootable floppy and boot with CD-ROM support and then put a disk in the drive and check if you have to eject the tray twice. This way you will come to know that problem, and come to know if the problem is with the drive or windows.
See ya later,
