This may not address your question, but frankly I wouldn't buy either one. Neither matches a LiteOn for quality, features and web support.

P.S. Your CAPS key is stuck. All caps is akin to shouting and is not a good style for forums.

I'd go with the Benq. I have a Benq 4824P and it's not as good as a Lite-On, but I think that it's probably better than the BTC. I bought the 4824P because it was free after MIR, and it's much better than I had expected, considering Benq's reputation.

Disagree completely.

Barring support (firmware updates are a bit thin on the ground) the BTC is a MUCH better writer than the Benq. I have a BTC 48x here and have had the dubious pleasure of using the Benq 52x and can safely say the BTC is a joy next to the Benq.

The BTC is media friendly, SD2 compliant, reads protected audio, produces discs of good quality (not as good as LiteOn but for example 0.5 ave C1 on Ritek 48x media vs 0.3 for LiteOn on average) and is stable and well built.

BTC are very underrated these days IMHO.

Yes, BenQ is the new brand name for Acer.
