Samsung SW240B CDRW in Dell PC

Postby prginocx on Wed May 21, 2003 12:25 pm

Never has worked right since new. Sometimes won't recognize a CD, sometimes won't write data CD. I never used it with Music, probably never will.
Anyway to fix the problem (No help from Dell Tech support) I downloaded from the Samsung website the R402 bin file. Then I used their little program to re-flash the CD drive. Now I can create Data CDs. Still don't know how it works with Audio CDs.
My quarry sleeps with their eyes open, ever drinking never thirsting, clad in mail never clinking, thinks a fountain is a puff of air !

Welcome to CDRLabs, prginocx! :D

I'm glad to hear your drive is working better with the new firmware!

Thanks for posting this tip; someone else may have the same problem, and they will able to see how to fix it without dealing with Tech Support!

prginocx: Try using different blank media. If the drive sometimes does not recognize the media you have now, try a different brand/manufacturer. Sometimes it is a media compatibility issue.

Very true. I have had some interesting symptoms of media compatibility problems with my Philips PCRW1208. Check out this thread to see what I observed and learned.
