Official American Idol Thread

Postby Ian on Wed Feb 12, 2003 9:43 pm

This is mostly for the people in the US.. since the show is called "American Idol".

Anyway, I'm hooked on this trashy show. What are your thoughts? Who do you think will win. Is Simon really a dick? Is Paula hot? Did Randy eat the other host?

I don't watch it, but I don't think that Paula Abdul is hot...

Paula is definitely not hot. Much like Mariah Carey, she is a slut.

Ian's hooked. :o :o :o

I personally think the show is more suited for the teenage audience. I saw a few moments of the American Idol 2 and was just turned off by it. Doesn't really suit my taste. My biggest complaint is that they need more bands on that show, like rock bands. Too many pop and R&B singers on there. Even some rappers would help mix up things a bit. Simon isn't always a dick because he does speak the truth sometimes. Like when people really suck, he just gives you the straight answer, not some sweetened up version. As for the other 2 judges, I think they're okay, don't really have an opinion on them.

Fastlane is perect for me :D :D

Never seen, never will. You said it Ian: it's trashy :)
RealTV is (was, really) about the only good "reality" TV show.

Almost as bad as adults who watch Transformers....

:) Just kidding Ian! I know you like Transformers; so do I. I grew up on that show. I've got a few gigs of 'em on my hard drive :)

I always thought TF would make a very cool video game, especially with modern game engines. I'm too lazy to make one, though. I started a SG-1 fps, but never got more than the 3-D engine written. Never felt like writing the map editor.

"American idle" is a copy of "Pop idle" in the UK, which in turn was a spin-off of "Pop-Stars" in the UK and the original "Pop-stars" concept came from New Zealand. It is possibly the only original thing ever created in this country! :-?

They're working on one. They showed off some of the game in Japan a few months ago and it looked pretty cool. I always thought they should make a TF fps shooter where you can transform and stuff.

FASTLANE! Tiffany! *thumbs up*

I think with Simon, it's a matter of he's not being paid to sugarcoat things. He's paid to be brutally honest about how he feels about the performers. At times though, his comments sound like a personal attack.

The show that I f***ing enjoy is The Osbournes. It's not even about the f***ing swearing. I like Ozzy...always have...without Sabbath. Talk about a functionally dysfunctional family. It's funny how he walks (trudges) around the way he does, yet in concert, he's running around all over the place just fine. That's Ozzy for ya.

Too bad Angie Martinez backed out on being the fourth "American Idol" judge. :)

Personally, I don't watch "American Idol." Then again, I don't need to; it's all over the media. :) "American Idol" to me is the 2003 version of "Star Search" (and "Star Search" is making a comeback).

I think if there were more "Simons" in the record company executive ranks, there wouldn't be a lot of bitching and complaining (all valid and justified) about the lack of quality music in the market today. :)
My solution to the Plextor vs. Lite-On debate: Buy 'em both! :)

Anyone seen the auditions? OH...MY...GOD! Either there's some REALLLLLLY mistaken people out there, or some great actors. I mean, if as a joke, I sang as bad as they did I don't think I'd be able to keep a straight face! Some were funny, and some were just plain painful to sit through.

OK, everyone voted for that rock guy tonite, right?

I'm so sick of all the N'Suck, Britney Spears type people. It was good to hear someone different.

I agree completely. He was refreshing compared to all of the others who look and sound the same. While I think he should have stuck with what got him in the competition (the Black Crowes type hard edged rock), I thought he performed well and couldn't believe that they trashed him like they did.

I thought the whole group was actually pretty weak last night which surprised me. I would bet that the marine and the last guy will probably be the ones to make it to the next round.

I've heard the name of the show "American Idol" somewhere and I can't picture from where.

I know you will be having a 2 hour Season Final at 8.00 pm tomorrow night EDT on FOX 5.

The show isn't available here in Australia and it is being reported on some web sites here. Maybe will show later here.

We get it in New Zealand, and everyone seems to be talking about it. We are a day behind the US. Now I know who won, I can ruin it for all my friends! :D
