Be carefull with the Hival rebates, they aren't too good sending them back.

That WD HD is a great deal. Too bad there's no Office Max where I live.

BTW..If I order it on line can I still get the instant rebate or just in store only?

I have not looked at the non scaned ad as of yet but I did look at the scaned copy after downloading and editing with a photo editer their are two sku's listed 2014-8555 which is the standard edition. The other sku 2034-6127 which is the Special Edition drive.

The Micro Advantage CD-RW is made by BTC, a low quality drive from what I have read on this message base.

Anyone know who makes the Cendyne DVD-ROM drive??

I bought the Cendyne DVD+RW this morning, model # CDICD00225. It is an NEC-1100A and this is noted on the outside of the box as "Model Drive".

From what I've read, Plextor uses this model for their DVD+RW but probably modifies the firmware.

Should I buy this drive or the SATA Raptor? The Raptor is smaller and the performance gain isn’t too much, in the other 120GB for less than $60 sounds very appealing.

I got 2 of the 120's, one for work, and they are the 8 meg buffer. Office Depot had sent me a coupon last week for 15 off an in store purchase, and OfficeMax was happy to take it.

I think I will go with the 120Gb if the drive has 8 meg buffer. It's an offer too good to let go.

Hey everyone, I bought the CenDyne DVD+R/RW today, and the WD HD. The WD HD is an AWESOME deal - 2 GB per Dollar is awesome!!!

The OfficeMax ad mentions the DVD-R for $24.99. Well guess what? At the OfficeMax I went to, the DVD-R's are sold OUT!!

This is great new - why? OfficeMax lets you override the Fuji 25 pack DVD+R's for the same price!!!

I picked up 4 Fuji 25 pack DVD+R's for $24.99 each, saving a tremendous amount of money!!!

I'm set with 100 DVD+R's for now... :D :D

How do you like it so far?

I ordered one too, using a coupon, so it was $40 less than the advertised price. Can't wait to get it.

It seems the NEC 1100A and the dual format 1300A are VERY similar.
Apparently (don't hold me to this), the PCB is SLIGHTLY different (one bridge transistor is in one and not the other). That seems to be the only difference...
I heard that one guy swapped out the PCB of an 1100A for that of a 1300A and was APPARENTLY able to burn dual media in his modified 1100A.

Well, I went to my local OfficeMax for the WD HD. Good news, it is the special editon version of the drive. Bad news, in my region they aren't $59.99. Maybe next week or the next one.

I got the WD hard drive at Office Max yesterday and it was the special edition w/8mb buffer. I then went to Circuit City and had them price match my $139 out the door price at OM and got their rebates. So, amir I got one $59 hd and one $39 hd. Now I only need to decide how to put them in my box. I have the open SATA ports on my A7N8X mobo, so I could get 2 SATA to Ultra ATA converters from Newegg for $50, or I could get an IDE raid card for $51 from them. I am leaning towards the SATA adapters so i can use the thinner cables, but I worry about their reliability. Any suggestions?

You could also buy round cables for your ATA drives.
