Lite-On IT Introduces Fastest RW Drive for PC’s
Features 32X CD-RW Recording

Lite-On IT, a global leader in optical storage, is pleased to announce the availability of the new LTR-52327S Ultra-High Speed RW drive for PC environments. Designed for those with a taste for innovation, Lite-On’s newest CD-ReWritable improves the user experience so consumers can quickly and easily save and share music, photos, data and more.

CD-RW Features: With performance of 52x32x52x (maximum write/rewrite/read), Lite-On’s newest CD-RW drive can burn a 60-minute CD in less than three minutes. Its digital audio extraction (DAE) rate of 48x also makes it one of Lite-On’s fastest drives for creating custom compilations in audio, video or data applications. Lite-On’s LTR-52327S has an onboard 2MB buffer and utilizes SMART-BURN technology enabling users to “burn and work,” running other applications while making a CD with less risk of failed burns. Maximum performance specifications of the LTR-52327S can be achieved with supported media only.

Compatibility:
The internal LTR-52327S drive is compatible with Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition/2000/Millenium Edition/XP environments.

You'll probably have to wait a month until someone gets review unit and tested it.

I wish that they would use 8MB, but 2MB works fine for my 48x drives (in an Athlon 1.2GHz PC).

At 40x plus, it makes absolutely no difference whether you have 8MB or 2 MB buffer, except in the price.

The top was with some of Verbatim's 24x Ultra Speed media (Mitsubishi Chemical).

The bottom picture is with some of Mitsubishi Chemical's new 32x Ultra Speed media.

Yeah, I thought of that, too. 24x drives have been around for ages, and the 24x media hasn't been common for too long.

In Canada, you still can't buy 24x RW discs. Not even the crappy memorex ones.

BTW: Well done Ian. You've always been a "man of your word". If he says he'll do something, he does it.

I'm looking forward to the full review.

So for the first time Lite-on writers will write 24X using P-CAV?

Nice..

You think it sould be possible to overclock the 52X24X into the new 52X32X?
Or does the number '7' in the model name already answers that?

7S firmwares are not compatible with 6S drives as expected. I believe that 6K drives might also rewrite in P-CAV at 24X, but I'm not sure...

24x P-CAV

Looks to me like a significantly faster burn campared to my 6S.
