Problem: Popups/Sliders interfere with IE AutoComplete

Postby dodecahedron on Tue Jun 24, 2003 3:20 pm

i have a problem with the popup ads, especailly the ones that popup when i load the Forum Index page even before i log in.
it "kills" the AutoComplete of IE that i ordinarily use for the logon.
usually double clicking the username box "fills" the username and password boxes with the AutoComplete information. but if i've had the popup/slider ad then it doesn't work (double clicking the username box does nothing), and i have to either type the username and password manually or reload the page.

can you fix it so that this doesn't happen, and AutoComplete will work OK after a popup?

You have a couple of options here:
1. Download and install Pop-Up stopper (do a google search).
2. Switch browsers (Mozilla, Opera, etc).

If you don't want to switch browsers, may I recommend Avant Browser:

http://www.avantbrowser.com/download.htm

It's free, based on IE (basically it's just a "wrapper"), blocks pop-ups and flash, and features tabbed-browsing (like Opera)...

Personally, I like Opera...but if Opera didn't exisit...I'd use Avant...

thanks.
but actually i'm not interested in blocking the popup (another 1c for CDRLabs), just have it not interfere with the AutoComplete if it's possible.
if it's not i'll live with it.

I just noticed the same thing. If I don't close the popup the auto-complete works but if I close the popup it does not work.
