Chieftec Dragon Cases...

Postby Spazmogen on Wed Jul 09, 2003 3:29 am

Does anyone have a Dragon case ?

I just bought a DG-01WD-U from http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/ ... pNo=485763 for $53 CDN.

I opted for the great colour of beige.

I like the locking front bezel that hides the drives and power button from my kid's fingers!

That and the front USB & Firewire connectors.

But the www.tigerdirect.ca website says it has 10 drive bays, and www.tigerdirect.com (US site) says 7 bays.

I guess I'll know for sure in about a week when it arrives.

I have the Matrix and I really like it. My only complaint is that its not really black. It's really a dark gray.

I got a Blue Chieftec Dragon similar to that one from newegg about a month ago. Mine has four 5.5" inch front bays on drive racks and two 3.5" bays all visible from the outside whereas the one above only has 5 total on the outside. Mine has 10 drive bays if you include the two removable HDD racks inside. I think that each rack could hold 3 hard drives, but I haven't tried so maybe they only hold two at once. That gives me 10 bays, but maybe the 7 bay version only has one internal HDD Rack. It also looks like the front of the case above doesn't use drive rails like mine does.
Here's how the front (inside the door) of mine looks:

I have two Antec SX830 towers (similar to the Blue Chieftec Dragon above except without a door and with less bays), and they're great. They allow easy access to the computer's drives and other internal components.
