Did Fireware burn out my Drive?

Ok i went to upgrade my firmware for my benq 40x12x48 cd-rw drive. I updated with no problems. upon restart my computer does not detect my cd-rw drive. it doesnt even show up in device manager. please help. Also my bios does not recognize my cd-rw drive. Please tell me that it is not burned out.

Most likely the firmware update didn't take.Take the drive out of the enclosure and connect the drive to an IDE cable and see if your BIOS recognizes,if not try the firmware update again this time connected to IDE.

I think this is an IDE drive. It says "fireware" I think he meant firmware, as that is what it is refrenced to in the post.
