LiteOn DVD-ROM or combo drive C1/C2 accuracy?

Postby Halc on Mon Aug 18, 2003 3:43 pm

Does anybody have info on how C2 accurate the latest LTD-166S DVd-ROM or LiteOn LTC - 48161H combo drives are?

The previous LiteOn dvd-rom drives were not particularly accurate in checking C1/C2 data.

I need to get a LiteON dvd-rom compatible drive for PI/PO checking and may have to ditch my 52246S meanwhile, but I still need something to do C1/C2 testing in Kprobe.

regards,

I have a 166S, and don't trust it for C1/C2 measurements with KProbe, CD Doctor, etc. It greatly under-reports errors with these tools. It does, however, seem to do okay with C2 reporting as tested by CD Speed.

I don't have personal experience with the combo drives, but I believe I have read that they follow the same tradition as the DVD-ROM drives. In other words, they shouldn't be trusted for C1/C2 measurements either.
