yamaha 3200 can't read games by Westwood (Command & Conq

Postby genepool on Sun Aug 17, 2003 6:51 pm

My 3200 can't read any of their games (Red Alert 2 and Generals). When i pop the disc in, it says disc not inserted and the light on the drive is the same as no disc. My yamaha 4416S can read it with no problems....is it because of the SafeDisc protection or a limitation of the drive/firmware? Any fix for it?

I also found another cd it doesn't want to recognize: Visual Studio .Net Install Disks.

Also, I'm using XP.

Well, you could try updating to the newest firmware; otherwise, I don't think that there is anything else that you can do.

I checked their firmwire site and my drive is on the latest 1.0d.. Maybe i'll try to re-flash the drive but this is very odd. I've never had a drive that can't read certain cds. Thanks for the help

Actually, I have seen drives that wouldn't read certain CDs before, even if those CDs weren't copy-protected. My only options were to either get a new drive or live with the fact that these drives couldn't read certain CDs. :(
