i have a similar problem, windows xp pro detects my harddrive with UDMA mode 2.... Mode 2 ONLY!!!!
but does detects it as mode 4... how can i fix this ??

What detects your hard drive as Mode4? The BIOS?

BTW, what hard drive do you have (brand, model, specifications)?

Also check whether you're using a 40- or 80-pin conductor cable for the drive. Only the 80-pin one supports modes above Mode 2.

For a (hopefully) permanent Microsoft hotfix for the problem, see the knowledgebase article IDE ATA and ATAPI Disks Use PIO Mode After Multiple Time-Out or CRC Errors Occur.
