PHillips 40x at 100% cpu...

Postby Jarlaxil on Tue Sep 23, 2003 3:44 pm

Hey all,
Been trying to figure this out for a while now. I am running a phillips CD-RW 40x writer. I am using Nero 6 (I was using 5 with the same problem)
and everytime I burn it uses 100% CPU and fails more often than it exceeds during the burn process. On a good day it burns 2 succesful copies and then fails on every third copy. But most of the time it fails 4 or 5 times before succeeding and this is with a variety of media. It has all firmware updates also.

My system is a P4 2400, 1GB of PC800 RDRAM, SOundblaster Audigy 2,
Geforce FX 5900 Ultra w/ 256 MB Ram. And win XP Pro with all updates and patches.

Anybody have any advice that may help or should I just go buy a new drive? If so what are your recommendations?

Thanks,
James Waymire
