Anyone know how to take video of a computer game?

Postby Turkeyscore.com on Sun Aug 17, 2003 5:15 pm

I am looking to take video of computer games such as battlefield 1942 and making an intro for it. Any suggestions on a program to use to record in game stuff. Free is good.

Google for Fraps. I would have done it for you but I'm late for a class.

Hiya CignaXI! Not sure if you made your avatar yourself, but if you did...how did you make that movie-ish gif? Anyone else here know what software is used?

Any decent image editor has that function. I use photoshop, just open the movie and then saved as gif.

Photoshop can import a movie file and be saved as a gif? How so?

Open photoshop then with photoshop open the movie file then "save as" and select gif as the format. I don't remember that before saving it photoshop will open an option menu where you can tweak the quality and other features.

I tried opening up various movie files over at a friends place (has Photoshop 7.0), but Photoshop won't allow it...gives an error. What version of Phtoshop are you using that let's you import the movie files?

My bad, I checked and the program I'm using is not Photo Shop, it is Paint Shop Pro. It comes with Animator Shop or Wizard and it changes the movie to gif. If you don't have it just send me the movie and I'll do it for you. Again Sorry!

Thanks for the 411 on the prog! I think that Animation Shop from them does it. It's supposed to be included in Paint Shop Pro

I had to change it because my image server died and the image with it. May be I'll upload it again later. I was browsing a DnB site when that happened so I posted that avatar. I'll change it later after I get rid of some test i still got pending.

I know someone that has that Animation Shop 3, so I had them make a test conversion for me. That thing is pretty awesome!

BTW, I put that dancing nads on my bosses computer as wallpaper. He still can't figure out how to remove it. :P
