nero and i/o errors and slow

I have a just installed a new MSI 52 CD burner with the nero it came with.
The problems i am having are slow burning of CDRW's (35mins)and i get these errors "I/O error has occured" when i am burning to a cdrw.

is it the crapy msi burner or crapy nero?

the computer is a Gigabyte GA-8PE667 motherboard and p4 CPU so it's not a crappy system i would of thought?

Have you tried a different brand of blank discs? This problem sounds like a disc problem.

Also, make sure DMA is enabled for your optical drives and your hard drives. You can find instructions on how do enable it here
