Nero 6.0.0.19 / Book Types & DVD+R Media

Postby Mark_Strahan on Wed Oct 08, 2003 12:19 pm

I'm about to start creating a number of DVD+R media discs for my friends using Nero version 6.0.0.19.

I understand that some DVD players don't like DVD+R media but WILL always tend to play media where the book-type on the DVD is seen as DVD-ROM.

Is there a setting in Nero that gives me an option to set the book-type to DVD-ROM when burning my discs?

I don't fancy getting loads of unreadable DVD's back from my mates and maybe I should use -R media instead.

Comments please?

There is no setting in Nero to do that-infact only a tiny number of DVD burners can do it (HP & Ricoh, I think).

I believe that http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php has quite a few topics on this subject, along with how-to's and the utilities needed to do it.

Sorry I can't be more helpful than that :(

Not all DVD Recorders support this feature.

However, if yours happens to support it, you can change the DVD Type Settings using Nero.

Simply place the disc in the DVD Recorder, launch Nero and from Nero Burning ROM go to Recorder->Disc Info, from Nero Express go to More->Disc Info

And if your recorder supports this feature, in this window in the bottom left will be the option to change the Book Type Setting.

Ok, that's something I didn't know...I thought is was always more of a "hack" then anything. Hmm, time to find a Ricoh drive...

ETNA has a bit setting hack for the NEC ND1100a (and it varients: HP300i, Plextor DVDR PX-504A, TDK DVDRW420N, Mitsumi DW-7801TE & IOMEGA DVDRW4216INP-A
just to name a few).

It seems to hae been turned off in firmware for some reason.

Etna has turned it back on for us.
