sound from my HD and an audio codec

two questions.

1) gots me a hd and every once in a while it whistles when booting up and my bios can't find it

2) I need an ac3 codec but i think i already installed it (divx501, divx3.11 alpha, xvid and ogg) is there any other file i need? got A dvd rip but get no audio

First off, I wouldn't proclaim to the masses that you downloaded an illegal copy of Matrix Reloaded. :wink:

Secondly, try the K-Lite Codec Pack. It has codecs for everything, including AC3, and its AC3 codec actually works! http://www.k-litecodecpack.com

Thirdly, it sounds like your hard drive is dying. If it is still under warranty, get it repaired/replaced or start shopping for a new HDD.

I agree with TheWizard's thought that your hard drive is dying. I wouldn't count on it lasting too much longer.
