HOLY SHIZNIT - 40 page catalog, um I mean ad and new extended holiday shopping hours. Can you say "Holiday sales?"

Belkin 500VA Battery Backup Model: F6C500-UNV $34.99 AMIR ($69.99 - $35 MIR in store ad. Online price shows $24.99, $59.99 - $35 MIR!!) HOT Note - I have been burned by Belkin on their rebates before, so buyer beware.

Western Digital Caviar Special Edition 80.0GB Internal Hard Drive 8MB Cache Model: WD1200JBRTL $49.99 AMIR ($109-$30 MIR - $30 MIR) HOT I usually look for 2GB per Dollar, but this isn't too bad.

Fuji 50-Pack CD-R Disc Spindle $4.99 AMIR ($12.99-$8 MIR) HOT Look for "Made in Japan" for TY media. I'll save these for you, cause I've got enough to have my own holiday sale already.

TDK 100-Pack 4x DVD+R Disc Spindle $119.99 HOT Does anyone know how good these DVD+R's are??

EDITORIAL: This release of the Special Edition "Lord Of the Rings - The Two Towers" pisses me off. WTF couldn't they release this initially? I purchased the DVD when it came out a month or two before, and now I'm supposed to buy another set just to get the "special" crap?

The lowest I have seen those DVD+Rs (before this) is $129 when I bought some.
They are excellent and have a scratch resistent frosted top coating.
They burn at 8X on my 708A drives.
They have a 'Ricoh Japan' media ID.

I am personally hoping that my current supply of 4X +R blanks lasts me till 8X media comes out. Then, depending on the price of 8X blanks, I'll either buy those or get more 8X-compatible 4X discs...
Burners only:
Pioneer DVR-115D
Pioneer DVR-111D
Plextor PX-716A TLA0304
Plextor PX-716A same TLA

Thanks VEFF.

HOLY COW - reading through the list of optical drives you've got. Do you burn lots of DVD's or what??

I'm still waiting to unload those empty CD/DVD cases off of you

Here's my list of drives:

Optorite DD0203 (yea it's old, ancient since I bought them in June LOL)
BTC region-free DVD-ROM
48X12X48X Lite-On CDRW
3 52X24X52 Lite-On CDRW
3 52X32X52 Lite-On CDRW
12X10X32 Lite-On CDRW (nearly dead)

I've got a lot of catching up to do, compared to VEFF!!! I'll buy a new DVD writer next year or so, to keep up with the VEFF's

I made the mistake of buying The Fellowship of the Rings DVD when it first came out, well no more. I'll probably wait until all three are out like dodeca.

They sell most movies dirt cheap the first week to get the product out there plus after a month the price falls again usually. They count on the movie nuts buying the new and improved version to make even more profit I think. I have fallen for that too, sometimes the extras are worth it, sometimes not.
At least you can buy older good movies for 10 bucks or even less. Someday the music industry might notice that business model and try it. I have way more DVD movies now then I do music cd's.

And the TDK plus 4x media is great quality, burns great in my Sony 500 too. Also the latest Memorex 4x plus is the same stuff so it's worth getting too till they change vendors again. I've been wondering how the latest Memorex minus 4x media is, I'm not willing to buy 25 or 50 and get stuck with double speed again till I upgrade drives.

The Memorex 4x DVD+R media is the same media, but Memorex media in general, especially when it comes to thier 4x DVD+R is flakey. I had two packs, a 10 and a 5 I believe, and they all worked great, even at 8x. Then I got a 25 spindle, and only 1/4 of the disks worked at 8x. TDK DVD+R 4x is much higher quality than the Memorex equivalent.

The stuff I have has the same id according to dvd info pro as the TDK and it has the same silver label except it says Memorex instead of TDK.
I have also bought TY Memorex cdr spindles but they haven't had any of those for a long while now. That's why you need to check the look of the disks and also see where that batch is made to see if it's the good stuff or more crap like they usually sell :D

Actually, I "only" have 2 DVD burners.
In addition, I recently sold 4 CD-RW drives, 3 of which were in my sig (I just removed them), since they were just sold (I sold one today; my brother asked if I had any extra CD burners to sell to this friend. I offered him a 48X24X48X (that I wasn't even really trying to sell) and he took it.

Both Benq 48X drives have been sold and so has the CyberDrive black 48X. The Norcent 48X I sold wasn't in my sig anyway.

I just removed all the burners I sold from my sig. The list is shorter now :)
