My artec wrr-4848 wont burn has numerous error messages

Postby b00paul on Sun Nov 16, 2003 4:18 am

I have had the burner since i bought the computer a year ago. All of a sudden the burner hass error messages like MEDIUM ERROR or TRANSFER ERROR ect... When i burn at 8x it seems to do ok in the program and the program (nero) says it burned ok but when i check cd nothing is on it. I have tried other programs like alchol 120% and NTI Burner and a couple more, same problems. I have also 'tried' to download firmware for it but the artec site doesnt carry it and the firmware forum site link doesnt work. ANYONE have any ideas?

THX
BTW i have
Win2k
1.7 ghz
512 ram

Is DMA enabled?

There is an FAQ that shows you how to check and enable DMA here

DMA will need to be enabled.

I know the computer says "DMA if available", but underneath that, does it say something like "PIO Mode", "Ultra DMA Mode 2", or "Multi-Word DMA Mode 2"?

Also, what brand of blank discs are you using, and what speed are they rated? Have you seen this error with more than one brand of blank discs?

You might want to try some other discs just in case the discs are causing the problem.

You're welcome; enjoy your new drive. BTW, I think your Memorex drive is a re-badged Lite-On LTR-52327S drive, which is definitely a good drive. :D
