48x media for Lite-On LTR-48125W

48x media for Lite-On LTR-48125W

Postby alibaba on Fri Nov 28, 2003 9:02 am

I have tried many types of media but I have still not managed to burn at 48x. I can get hold of a 100 pieces spindle with memorex 48x (blue and yellow type). On the media list, this media can be used with 48x. Have anyone tried it? I tried the Memorex 52x media made by Prodisc. Barely manged 32x without lots of errors.

I use the latest fw.

Taiyo Yuden and Ritek CD-Rs burn at 48x just fine on that drive. If you can't find any made in Japan labeled Fuji's then look for Maxell CD-Rs, or Maxell Pro CD-Rs (Ritek, and Taiyo Yuden, respectively).

Ok. Tried some Fuji 52x labeled Germany, no go. I haven't seen any Maxell media around. Are all Maxell media made by Ritek or Taiyo Yden? How about the Memorex 48x media made by ProDisc. According to the media thread the 48x type will work at 48x. The strange thing is that the Memorex 52x media made by Prodisc was a no go.

maybe you have a bad drive?

Maybe, but if you look at the media compatibility thread this drive has generally bad compatibility. The 52x drive from Lite-On will burn 52x on most media. Maybe I can RMA it and complain on the compatibility and get a 52x drive instead. Not beeing able to burn at 48x at any media must be an reason to complain.
