Can't Make a Backup Copy ...

Postby HeartBurn on Fri Dec 05, 2003 4:30 pm

I have made a backup copy of all my MS Flightsimulator programs since FlightSimulator 95 but I can't seem to make a copy of FS2004, disc#4. The first 3 disc copy ok but not #4. I have tried doing it with Nero and 120%, using DAO/SAO, RAW/SAO, RAW/DAO, makes no difference. All I get is Disc Read Errors at, etc. This disc has to be in my CDROM when playing FS2004 and I desperately need a backup copy. Any help will be much apreciated.

Yeah, that disc is protected by SafeDisc (don't remember what version). Copying it shouldn't be a problem, if you have a drive that can do EFM.

Thank you Ian, I have a Liteon 52x24x52 and a Liteon 32x12x40. Not sure if either has EFM capabilities though.

"Like most of Lite-On's other drives, the LTR-52246S can do EFM encoding correctly."

If found this in your reviews of the LTR52246S. I don't know what I am doing wrong here. I see nothing in 120% that speaks of EFM.

I'm not familiar with the Alcohol software, so I'm not much help. Can anyone tell him how to do it?

I got it copied. I just didn't go far enough. I saw all the errors and stopped right there. I aborted in the middle of a learning curve I guess. Thanks anyway.

yeah, your LiteOn 52246 does do EFM so it shouldn't be a problem, as you found out.

Alcohol + Clony and / or Alcoholer

I'm no expert either.

Yes. Unless you have the external version, you have a Lite-on OEM that is one of the best CD-RW drives around for making back-ups of your games. As for the external drives, I recall hearing that they mave have been by another manufacturer but I am not sure.
