Physically failed CD-R discs - images?

I'm calling out to all CDR Labs users who still have some of their failed cd-r discs available.

I need images, preferably high resolution, that show some common problems:

- holes in the reflective layer (oxidisation)
- fungus growth
- peeling-off of the label side and refletive layer
- very bad scratching of reflective side
- extreme asymmtery, thickness variations, bending
- severe changes in color or reflectivity

I'm finally starting to write my cd-r quality article (long in preparation) and I would need images for this kind of article.

Many people do not understand what are the possible perils that can hit that one back up cd that they hold dear. As always, an image speaks worth a thousand words...

PS I had some really delicious discs that I unfortunately have long since gotten rid off: Kodak Gold's which peeled off by themselves. Some no-names that had multiple holes in the reflective layer as if shot with a miniatyre shotgun, discs that changed color and so forth. Now I feel stupid for not having saved them initially. Ah well...

Good question. When I get some time later I'll take a look and see if I kept the original full resolution photo.

I had some BASF CD-Rs do the exact same thing (made by CMC)...oddly enough though, most of them continued working for a while, despite discolourization

But they are ALL dead now. That was from 1997.

Expect some stuff from my hand soon.

(Some pictures of CMC disc's which were put outside on a suny day and some which didn't encounter this torture !) (OUCH))
Note I also have one of the MCC disc's which experienced the same but this one doesn't show any degradation in analyzers or at eyeball analysis.

Also would it be interresting for the article to put up a DVD disc which shows suspence or a air bubble in the policarbonate of the inner ring.
It isn't a cd-r still it could be nice for explaining shatering effects.
(To the people interrested it's made by CMC and it's branded as Memorex. The media can be burned fine and it's quality according K-probe and a Datarius analyzer is quite good but the main problem is that I'm quite woried that it will scatter at high speed reading !

You should have said this a month ago befor I cleaned up the room. SInce I trew away quite some junk disc's with damaged layers. Still I found one unburned That's write and maxell disc with a quite bad upper layer. BUt I had even worse disc form MMORE(plasmon), That's write(Lead data), HEMA(Acer)

I also have a Double diamond Digital disc which top layer is discoloured
by humidity still the disc is fine (C1 average is 1 at full speed in cddocter )
So I don't think this one is really interresting.
Just fixing the scanner at the moment. After the other scans which I promised I will put the disc's under the scanner and scan them !
