Plextor CDR drives?

Postby Rob P on Wed Dec 17, 2003 7:44 pm

Who (what parent company) makes the Plextor CDR drives? I think I was told Sanyo but I am not sure.

Most of them use Sanyo chipsets and are manufactured by Plextor. There are a few exceptions where they based the drive off NEC designs.

If I am remembering correctly, the only drives which Plextor has re-badged are their latest CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, and their early DVD recorders.

Ah yeah, I forgot about their IDE CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives. They also rebadged a few of their portables.
