weird result when burning Mode 2 Form 1 cd

Postby Gooberslot on Sat Dec 20, 2003 10:39 pm

Isobuster is reporting the mode as Audio. It'll report a Mode 2 cd I burnt on another drive correctly. Also, when I make an image of the problem disc Isobuster will report the image as Mode 2 form 1. What I'm worried about is that my drive(Yamaha CRW3200e) may not be using all the error correction it should, audio mode has much less.

Another odd thing is that if I take an image that has an error in it (according to CDMage) and mount it with Daemon Tools the disc will be readable but if I burn this image to cd it won't be.

Anyone know what's going on?

Ok, if noone knows what's going on does anyone know of another program besides Isobuster that can tell you what mode the CD is recorded in?

Nero CD Speed.
it says Mode 1 or Mode 2. i don't know if it will say Mode 2 Form 1 or Mode 2 Form 2 (i don't have a Mode 2 CD to check with).

Nero (Medium Info button), shows in the session info ISO9660/Jolite (mode 1)

Nero just says mode 2. This is probably just another sign telling me I need a DVD recorder. :)

yeah, it's mode 2. but i don't know if it tells mode 2 form 1 or mode 2 form 2.
i think data CDs burnt at mode 2 are always form 1.

search the forum, cfitz once posted a long explanation about the differences between mode 1/mode 2 and mode 2 form1/form2.

There's a reference to cfitz' post in the FAQ section:
Mode 1 versus Mode 2 Disc.
