Welcome to CDRLabs! :D

The Pioneer A06 would be a good choice; it has very good media compatibility. The Lite-On LDW-411S would be a good choice, too.

Deffinetly go for the Pioneer A06. The LDW-411S, is, from what I have heard, yet to be perfected. The Pioneer A06 is one of the best DVD Burners around, and at a good price.

It's not perfect, but mine seems to have been working just fine so far.

Well you'll have to let us know if that 2500 is better or at least as good as the 708 so others can decide what they need. The minus support is cool especially if it can overclock some of the better minus media and people besides NEC have worked to improve the firmware with other NEC drives.
I ended up with a 811 I'm still figuring out here, hope to also get minus 8x supprt soon.
