in Nero 5.5 file names are limited to 64 characters.

in Nero 6 the limit is somewhat higher (can't remember).

there's no way to get around this.

if you're interested, search the Ahead forum, there are quite a few posts discussin this. a few:

if you want really long filenames, i can suggest buratonce.
www.burnatonce.com
it's freeware (for personal use) and has ISO9660:1999 that lets you use very long filenames, as long as 207 chars.

i think the 64 character limit is including the path name.

Two things. First, give us the exact error message you are getting along with the exact version of Nero you are using. Second, make sure you have enabled the Joliet extension and relaxed the ISO restrictions. On the ISO tab of the compilation dialog, ensure that "Joliet - Secondary Volume Descriptor and directories using Unicode" is checked and that "Allow pathdepth of more than 8 directories" and "Allow more than 255 characters in path" are both checked in the "Relax ISO Restrictions" box.

As Cfitz said before, giving the exact error message + version would be very helpful.

In ISO Tab, also select "Max of 31 Chars (ISO Level 2)" along with other settings suggested. You only need to select this once, and after a successful burn and Nero will remember it thereafter.

Btw, what is original length of your filenames?
