It is a shame what some people will do for money

Read the part about the woman who said she would keep the ticket and collect the money if she found it in the place where the real owner lost her purse after buying the winning ticket.

What a shame!

That's too bad but she shouldn't have lost the ticket.Whoever turns in the ticket gets the jackpot, that's the policy in CA too.

It might not be illegal to keep it, but I personally would return the ticket to its rightful owner, assuming he or she could provide proof of ownership of the ticket.

This morning I made a photocopy of my transit pass to fax in for
the Transit Reimbursement plan (it allows us to use pretax dollars to pay for transit expensses up to $100 per month).
I had a lot on my mind, and left the pass on the copier with the lid down.
The pass cost me $155 and with January just having started, losing it would obviously not be good.

Luckily a colleague who knew me and knew where I lived, found the pass on the copier (I hadn't even had a chance to write my name and phone number on the back) and returned it to me at my desk hours later.

Thank goodness for honest people!

Yes, it is really a shame what this woman who claims to have lost the winning ticket is trying to pull.

Thanks for reminding me to update this.
I was too busy yesterday afternoon to finish posting an update to this thread, so I closed my browser and left.

I had my concerns, which is why I noted in my first post
"...as long as she could provide proof of ownership of the ticket".

The title of my thread can stay the same though; it just applies to a different person now ;)

The woman who originally claimed having lost the ticket, has now admitted that she lied.
She faces up to 6 months in jail!
