NVE 2: Any way to avoid re-encoding of MPEG?

Postby dmakogon on Fri Jan 09, 2004 5:09 pm

Hi all,

I'm trying out NVE 2, using video clips already encoded in MPEG2 (via SonicFoundry's Vegas 4.0) to make DVD's.

Does NVE2 leave MPEG2 files as-is, or does it decode / recode them? If it does recode them, is it possible to force it NOT to?

Thanks in advance...

I have a similar question. I have 6.0 OEM and have downloaded 6.3 and Vision express 2.0. I have Used SONIC MYDVD and Screen Blast 3.0 to make a mpeg2 file. I assume Nero can not grab this file and put it on a DVD as an MPEG2.

NeroVision Express 2 should not recode an MPEG2 file as long as it's the proper MPEG2/DVD format.

Of course, if the source file is larger than the capacity of the 4.7gig disc you are writing too, it may ask you if you want NVE2 to requantisize the file to make it fit on a 4.7gig disc.

As for Earlthepearl's question, it should have no trouble with any MPEG2 compatible file as a source. I've used files created by Sonics software in the past without any problems.
