which way do fans blow

Postby flashgordonion on Sun Jan 25, 2004 8:49 pm

I have 5 case fans
2 front
1 side
and 2 back by mobo

My question is which way are they supposed to blow, in or out.

Any response is greatly appreciated thanx.

Flash,

DHC gave you the right answer (check my profile).

Actually, with than many fans, if they were all blowing in, the optical drive trays would open and you wouldn't be able to close them and the sides would bulge out and come flying off. :P

Hox,

You're a one man energy crisis. Do your lights dim when you bootup?

Hi guys,
No Slim,Hox uses 1000W PSU.....I guess he can place 5 more fans in his system.i wonder does he ever watch movies or listen to music in that fan "breeeze"?
By the way you are correct.Front-In,Side-In and Back-Out.I have only 1 front and 1 on the back.I find this setup noisy....I wonder what Hox does....Does he put cotton swabs in his ears? :D

See ya guys later,

I think those stealth fans are sposed to be a bit quieter then most. If not it must sound like a jet waiting for takeoff :) My lights dim when I turn on my stereo, does that count? It does have a extra amp for the sub though.

I second that. A book with a compilation of all of Slim's jokes on CDRLabs would suffice.

Towards the heat spreader/CPU. That direction gives the highest air velocities at the surface of the spreader fins.
