Samsung SW-248F does not support Mount Rainier

Postby Bhairav on Wed Apr 09, 2003 7:07 am

Hey. I am using a Samsung SW-248F 8 MB buffer retail drive, as my 52246S is under RMA. This is a nice drive, and when I saw a new update over at samsungodd.com, where they released the R604 firmware which was supposed to give Mt Rainier capability to the drive, I was very happy. But I flashed the drive, and Nero InfoTool did not show MR capability. I shot off an email to Samsung, and here's their reply:

Dear Customer,
Thank you for your mail.

I really feel sorry for your inconvenience.
The website info is wrong. I will fix it.
Actually, your drive is not compatible with Mt.ranier format.
Sorry for the wrong information.

Thank you.

Yeesh. You would have thought that they freakin' KNEW what capabilities the drive chipset had!
Better be careful with that SW-252 :o
